William Conger
William Conger is an influential Chicago-based abstract painter and educator known for a dynamic, subjective style that blends illusionistic space with ambiguous, metaphorical forms. A founding member of the "Allusive Abstractionists," Conger’s work emerged as a paradoxical response to minimalism, often drawing inspiration from Chicago’s unique urban and lakeside geography. His distinguished career includes exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, as well as leadership roles at Northwestern University and DePaul University.
