Jessica Dunne
is a painter and printmaker whose work explores the ephemeral beauty of the nocturnal landscape. Inspired by the nostalgic atmosphere of darkened highways, her current project captures the fleeting palettes of mercury and sodium-vapor streetlights viewed through a car’s windshield. By elevating urban subjects like taillight reflections and industrial silhouettes, Dunne documents the modern nighttime experience before it is transformed by new lighting technologies.
Dunne’s practice is defined by her mastery of monotypes and spit-bite aquatints, techniques she uses to achieve a atmospheric depth and painterly texture unique to the medium. Her process—ranging from fingertip-inked plates to acid-etched copper—embraces the "mysterious quality" and unpredictability of printmaking to capture the subtle auras of the road. Her work has been showcased at Warnock Fine Arts and is included in several prestigious permanent collections.

"I spent a lot of time nosing around in Dave’s San Luis Obispo shaping-shack when he wasn’t there, ogling the strange tools and stranger claustrophobic space. Then I watched him shape a board and envied his skill. A painting or print does not have to perform physically, as does a board, but the pressure on Dave to create a perfect object, his ability to create this great curvilinear shape out of a hunk of foam that will also withstand the force of a large wave, was humbling." – Jessica Dunne
